Life has a funny way of throwing things at you when you least expect them. Some are better than you ever hoped for and some can tear the heart right out of you. I think somehow I bury these things deep down inside of me, where they kind of get lost. So I paint to remember. And I paint to forget. There is no intended message in this series of works; there is simply colour, texture, gesture and movement. There is no bigger meaning; there is just the brief, welcomed shut down of the critical, logical part of my mind and the gratifying rush of simply diving into the unknown. And finally, there is no predetermined outcome, there is only the simple pleasure of discovering just what can be made from the things that are thrown at you, when you take a step back and throw in a little paint.

La vie a plus d’un tour dans son sac. Elle a le don de placer des événements sur notre chemin au moment où on s’y attend le moins. Des événements tantôt heureux, tantôt arrache-coeur. Sans trop en être consciente, il m’arrive d’enfouir en moi ces épisodes. Comme pour les égarer, les occulter. Résultat, je peins. Pour me rappeler. Ou pour oublier. Il n’y a pas de messages délibérés dans cette expression artistique. Il n’y a que couleur, texture, gestuelle et mouvement. Pas de sens caché ou de second degré. Simplement une suspension – bien salutaire – des fonctions critiques et logiques de l’esprit. Et la sensation gratifiante de sauter dans l’inconnu. En outre, il n’y a pas non plus de destination préconçue. Simplement le bonheur de découvrir ce qui peut arriver quand on prend un recul par rapport aux événements de sa vie, et qu’on y ajoute quelque jets de peinture.
